The Fanwood Community Emergency Response Team

The following team members have completed all of the required coursework for the national CERT program. Many have completed additional training and/or are part of other emergency service organizations.

Police ActivationMember of the Red Cross DATField Training Officer US Presidential Volunteer Service Award - Gold

Michael Prasad is a Fanwood resident and founding member of the Fanwood CERT. He has completed two NJ State Police CERT Train-the-Trainer programs (G317 & G740). He has also completed FEMA's Basic Incident Command System courses (IS-100 & IS-195) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS), an Introduction course (IS-700).  Michael is also the Director of Emergency Services for the Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and has completed numerous Red Cross Disaster training courses, including Shelter Operations. He is a certified Red Cross Disaster Instructor. He has earned the USA Freedom Corp's Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for the years 2006-2010 for his volunteer work with the Fanwood CERT. He also holds an FCC Amateur Radio Technician's class license with the call sign KC2UOA.

Elizabeth Silver is a Fanwood Resident and a founding member of the Fanwood CERT. She also holds a Masters Degree in Public Health.

Rhoda Eusebio is a Fanwood Resident and a founding member of the Fanwood CERT. She is also a Registered Nurse.

Bob Hoyer is a Fanwood resident and also a member of the Fanwood Rescue Squad.

Nancy Mustachio is a Fanwood resident and also a member of the Fanwood Rescue Squad. She is a NJ Certified Emergency Medical Technician.

David Catenacci is a Scotch Plains resident now, and completed his CERT training in Middlesex county, where he was a member of Edison's CERT and OEM.

Member of the Red Cross DAT

Terri Esposito is a South Plainfield resident and also an active member of the South Plainfield CERT. She is also the dispatcher for the Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross and a Disaster Action Team member. Terry has completed numerous Red Cross Disaster training courses, including Shelter Operations and has volunteered for the Red Cross nationally, including service in the hurricane Katrina region.

Joe Czarnecki is a Westfield resident and also a member of the Union County Medical Reserve Corps. Joe has also completed numerous Red Cross Disaster training courses, including Shelter Operations. He also holds an FCC  Amateur Radio Technician's class license with the call sign KC2UVI.
Ann Marie Hurtado is a Fanwood resident. She also holds an FCC  Amateur Radio Technician's class license with the call sign KC2UVA.
John Lee is a Fanwood resident. John has also completed numerous Red Cross Disaster training courses, including Shelter Operations. 
Maria Lichtenstein is a Fanwood resident.
Anita Bowser is a Scotch Plains resident.
Dennis Lee is a Union resident.

Howard Drewes is Fanwood's Emergency Management Coordinator for the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). He is a retired police sergeant for the Borough of Fanwood and serves as a volunteer firefighter for the Fanwood Fire Department. 

Katherine Mitchell is a Fanwood resident and founding member of the Fanwood CERT. She is also a Registered Nurse. 

Eileen Ochsner is a Sergeant with the Fanwood Rescue Squad. She is a NJ Certified Emergency Medical Technician. She is a Fanwood resident and founding member of the Fanwood CERT.

Jim Baxter is with the Fanwood Rescue Squad and a founding member of the Fanwood CERT. He is a NJ Certified Emergency Medical Technician.

Bob Murray is a founding member of the Fanwood CERT. He has also completed the majority of the Red Cross Disaster Preparedness courses.

David Pickering is a Fanwood resident and a founding member of the Fanwood CERT. 

Lynn Sorf is a Fanwood resident and a founding member of the Fanwood CERT. 

Tom Palasits is a Fanwood resident.

Etta Nappi is a Fanwood resident and professional grief counselor. 

Marisa Aspell is a Scotch Plains resident.

Instructors for our courses and additional elective courses

John DiIorio is a Hazardous Materials Responder with the Union County Division of Emergency Management and a firefighter in Westfield. He has completed the CERT Train-the-Trainer program (G317).

Jerry Fewkes is the Office of Emergency Management Coordinator for the Township of Clark. He is also a Deputy Fire Chief of the Clark Fire Department.

Thomas Jedic is a Sergeant with the Fanwood Police Department. He has completed the CERT Train-the-Trainer program (G317). He is also a founder of the Fanwood Community Policing Alliance.

William Kane is a Hazardous Materials Responder with the Union County Division of Emergency Management. He has completed the CERT Train-the-Trainer program (G317), and coordinates the CERT program for the New Jersey Army State Guard.

Kenneth Lichtman, MD is the chair of the Department of Psychiatry at J.F.K. Medical Center. He is affiliated with Psychiatry Associates in Metuchen.

Melissa Padulsky is a Captain with the Fanwood Rescue Squad. She is a NJ Certified Emergency Medical Technician.

Michael Prasad is the training coordinator and team leader for the Fanwood CERT. He has completed the CERT training program and the NJ State Police CERT Train-the-Trainer program (G317). He is also a certified Red Cross Disaster Course instructor. 

Paul Snyder is the OEM Coordinator for the Township of Piscataway. He is also a member of the Possumtown Volunteer Fire Department.

Dan Sullivan is with the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad.

Denise Neto is the Senior Director of Operations of the Tri-County chapter of the American Red Cross in Plainfield and a Red Cross Disaster Course Instructor.
