How to help those affected by recent hurricanes:

bulletCash donations to the Red Cross is probably the fastest and best way to make a difference. The local Tri-County Chapter's website is www.tricountyredcross.org  or you can call them at (908) 756−6414 to make a donation. You can also drop off checks (made payable to the Red Cross) at 332 West Front Street in Plainfield. Call them for their office hours.

The Fanwood Community Policing Alliance, in conjunction with the Fanwood Police Department, Fanwood Fire Department and the Fanwood Rescue Squad, had three collections of canned goods and other non-perishable items for the victims of these hurricanes and other disasters during 2005. We will have additional food drives in 2007. Go to the CPA's website and add your e-mail address to the notification list, if you want to know when and where the next food drive will be.

The Community Foodbank of NJ, is part of the national group "America's Second Harvest", and has recently depleted their own supplies with this hurricane. If you would like to contribute directly to the Foodbank, please call them first to find out what they need.  Their telephone number is 908-355-3663.

bulletHealth Care professionals such as licensed doctors, nurses, social workers, & mental health professionals who want to volunteer in the hurricane affected areas, should register with the State of NJ Medical Reserve Corps.
